
NPORS Telescopic Handler (N010)
Course Overview
This NPORS Telescopic Handler (NO10) course provides operators with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to safely and effectively operate telescopic handlers (telehandlers) in line with industry standards and current legislation.
Whether you’re new to plant operations or an experienced operator needing formal certification, this course ensures full compliance with Health & Safety guidelines and prepares candidates for real-world site operations.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, candidates will be able to:

Identify the key components, controls, and functions of a telescopic handler.

Conduct thorough pre-use checks and identify potential hazards.

Understand and follow site safety procedures and lifting regulations (PUWER, LOLER).

Operate the machine safely in a range of environments and under varying site conditions.

Load and unload materials safely.

Use hydraulic attachments (where applicable).

Understand load charts, lifting capacities, and stability factors.

Shut down and secure the machine correctly at the end of operations.

Assessment

Theory Test – Multiple choice or verbal questioning (NPORS-approved)

Practical Test – Based on real-life operational scenarios and site safety

Course Duration

Novice Operators: 3 to 5 days (depending on experience and group size)

Experienced Operators (Refresher/Test Only): 1 day
Certification
-
NPORS Operator Card (Traditional or CSCS Logo, depending on route and qualifications)
-
Certificate valid for 5 years
For CSCS Logo NPORS Card, candidates must pass a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.
