Course Overview

The NPORS Rigging and Fleeting Loads – Lift P (N046) course is designed for individuals involved in rigging, moving, and controlling loads as part of lifting operations. It covers the principles of safe load rigging, fleeting (controlled movement), signalling, and teamwork, focusing on non-crane-based lifting solutions and manual/mechanical rigging scenarios.
The course helps ensure that operatives understand how to rig, move, and position loads safely using approved lifting techniques and equipment — in full compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and other health & safety legislation.
On successful completion, candidates receive an NPORS Operator Card and Certificate (N046).
Course Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

Understand the legal and safety responsibilities when rigging and fleeting loads.

Identify different types of lifting and rigging equipment and their appropriate use.

Select the correct equipment for a specific task, including slings, shackles, spreader beams, and tag lines.

Rig loads securely using industry-accepted practices.

Control and guide loads safely using fleeting (horizontal movement) techniques.

Work effectively with crane operators or lifting supervisors (when applicable).

Conduct pre-use checks and defect reporting.

Understand and interpret lifting plans and risk assessments.
Assessment

Certification
Successful candidates will receive:
