Course Overview
​
The NPORS Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Scissor – N109 course is designed to train candidates in the safe and efficient operation of scissor lift platforms. These machines are commonly used in construction, maintenance, and warehouse settings for access at height where vertical lift is required.
The course covers all aspects of safe use including pre-use inspections, machine controls, safe working practices, and emergency procedures, ensuring full compliance with PUWER, LOLER, WAHR (Working at Height Regulations), and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Upon successful completion, candidates receive an NPORS Operator Card and Certificate for MEWP Scissor (N109).
Course Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

Carry out pre-use inspections and identify equipment faults

Operate the MEWP Scissor lift safely and efficiently

Use personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection systems

Follow safe emergency lowering and rescue procedures

Assessment

Theory Assessment – Multiple choice or verbal questioning

Practical Assessment – Conducting safe operations of a MEWP Scissor lift in realistic working scenarios

Novice Operators: 1 Day

Experienced Operators / Refresher / Test Only: Half-Day to 1 Day

Certification
Successful candidates will receive:

Valid for 5 years
✅ CSCS logo may be added to the NPORS card if the candidate has passed a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.
