Course Overview
The NPORS Plant Mover – N132 course is designed to train candidates in the safe movement of plant machinery within a site or workshop environment, without engaging in excavation or lifting tasks. This course is ideal for individuals who are responsible for the non-operational relocation of plant equipment, including loading, unloading, or moving machines for maintenance, repair, or repositioning.
It focuses on compliance with health and safety legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, and the Health and Safety at Work Act, ensuring that plant movement tasks are carried out safely and efficiently.
On successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card & Certificate for Plant Mover (N132).
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

Understand legal and safety responsibilities under PUWER and HASAWA

Identify various types of plant and their movement limitations

Carry out pre-use and shutdown checks

Safely relocate plant within controlled environments

Use banksmen/signallers to assist in restricted movement

Understand the importance of visibility, awareness, and site-specific risks

Recognise when and how to use safety systems (e.g. cameras, mirrors, alarms)
Assessment

Theory Test: Written or verbal questioning

Practical Test: Hands-on assessment moving plant safely within a site or yard environment

Novice Operators: 1 Day

Experienced Operators / Refresher / Test Only: Half-Day to 1 Day

Successful candidates will receive:
