Course Overview

​

As an NPORS Approved Test Centre, we offer the NPORS N133 – Plant Machinery Marshal course, designed to ensure candidates have the knowledge and practical skills to safely guide and assist plant machinery operations on site. The course is vital for anyone involved in vehicle marshalling, including those working in logistics, construction, and industrial sectors.

This qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, and other relevant regulations.

 

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, candidates will be able to:

• Understand relevant health & safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER, and signaller responsibilities

• Recognise the dangers and risks associated with plant movement on site

• Safely direct and assist the movement and manoeuvring of plant and vehicles

• Communicate effectively with operators using standard hand signals and radio communication

• Identify blind spots and safe positioning of marshals

• Maintain safety distances and ensure exclusion zones are respected

• Carry out pre-task checks and ensure risk assessments are followed

 

Assessment

Assessment is conducted to NPORS standards and includes:

• 1. Theory Test

     • Multiple-choice or written assessment

     • Covers legislation, responsibilities, and safety protocols

  2. Practical Assessment

     • Candidates demonstrate safe marshalling of plant machinery

     • Use of correct hand signals, positioning, and hazard awareness

• manoeuvring.
