Course Overview
​
The NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) course trains candidates in the safe and effective operation of a 360° tracked or wheeled excavator, commonly used across construction, civil engineering, utilities, and quarrying industries.
This course provides comprehensive instruction on machine control, excavation techniques, safe working practices, and compliance with legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded the NPORS Operator Card and Certificate for Excavator 360 (N202).
Course Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

Understand the operator’s legal responsibilities under relevant legislation

Identify key components and controls of the 360° excavator

Conduct thorough pre-use inspections and report any defects

Operate the excavator safely and efficiently for digging, loading, and grading
-
Understand machine stability, safe working loads, and ground conditions

Use attachments safely, including quick hitches where applicable
-
Work safely in proximity to other personnel and plant
-
Execute shutdown and secure procedures correctly

Follow site-specific safety and environmental procedures
Assessment

Theory Test: Multiple-choice or oral questioning

Practical Test: Safe and competent operation of a 360° excavator under realistic conditions

Novice Operators: 3 to 5 Days

Experienced Operators / Refresher / Test Only: 1 to 2 Days
Certification
Successful candidates receive:

NPORS Operator Card & Certificate – Excavator 360 (N202)

Valid for 5 years
✅ CSCS logo available if candidate has passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test in the last 2 years.
