Tow Tractor N210

 

 

Course Overview

​

The NPORS Tow Tractor (N210) course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate tow tractors (also known as tow tugs or towing vehicles) used in industries such as aviation, logistics, manufacturing, and distribution.

This course ensures that operators understand the legal requirements, safe driving techniques, and best practices when towing trailers or trollies in various workplace settings — including warehouses, airports, factories, and yards.

Upon successful completion, delegates receive an NPORS Operator Card and Certificate for Tow Tractor (N210).

 

Course Objectives

​

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the operator’s legal duties under PUWER, HASAWA, and site regulations

  • Identify the machine's components, controls, and operational limitations

  • Conduct pre-use inspections and report any defects

  • Safely couple and uncouple trailers or trollies

  • Operate the tow tractor safely in both open and confined spaces

  • Understand stability factors, weight distribution, and stopping distances

  • Navigate safely through pedestrian zones and shared access areas

  • Park, shut down, and secure the tow tractor appropriately

 

Assessment

​

  • Theory Test: Multiple-choice or verbal questioning

  • Practical Test: Safe operation of a tow tractor including trailer movements

Course Duration

 

  • Novice Operators: 1 Day

  • Experienced Operators / Refresher / Test Only: Half-Day to 1 Day

 

 

 

Certification

 

Successful candidates will receive:

  • NPORS Operator Card & Certificate – Tow Tractor (N210)

  • Valid for 5 years

✅ CSCS logo may be added to the card if the candidate has passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.
