Course Overview

​

The NPORS Dozer (N215) course is designed to provide both novice and experienced operators with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a crawler dozer (bulldozer) in line with current health and safety legislation, including PUWER, LOLER, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This course covers the safe use of dozers in various construction, earthmoving, and quarrying environments, focusing on machine controls, ground engagement techniques, stability, and environmental awareness.

Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card and Certificate for Dozer (N215).

 

Course Objectives

​

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand legal responsibilities under PUWER, LOLER, and HASAWA

  • Identify different types of dozers and their functions

  • Conduct pre-use checks and report defects

  • Understand ground conditions, terrain types, and slope management

  • Operate the dozer safely to perform basic earthmoving tasks (e.g. grading, pushing, backfilling)

  • Understand blade types and appropriate usage

  • Maintain full control and awareness during machine operation

  • Shut down and secure the machine safely after use

  • Work to industry-recognised safety standards and site-specific procedures

 

Assessment

​

  • Theory Assessment: Multiple-choice or verbal questions

  • Practical Assessment: Safe and effective operation of a dozer to NPORS standards

Course Duration

 

  • Novice Operators: 3 to 5 Days

  • Experienced Operators / Refresher / Test Only: 1 to 2 Days

 

 

 

Certification

 

Successful candidates will receive:

  • NPORS Operator Card & Certificate – Dozer (N215)

  • Valid for 5 years

✅ CSCS logo may be added if the candidate has passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years.
