Course Overview
At our NPORS Approved Test Centre, we deliver the NPORS N723 – Harness and Fall Arrest training course, designed to ensure candidates understand how to inspect, fit, use, and store personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) safely and correctly.
This course is essential for anyone required to work at height or wear a harness as part of their job. Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of injury in the workplace, and proper training is a legal requirement under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

Understand the legal requirements surrounding work at height and fall protection

Identify the components of a fall arrest system (harness, lanyard, anchor point, etc.)

Correctly inspect, fit, and adjust a full-body harness

Understand the differences between fall restraint, fall arrest, and work positioning

Identify the dangers of incorrect use or poorly maintained equipment

Demonstrate safe storage and care of harness equipment

Understand emergency procedures and rescue considerations when using PFPE
Assessment
Assessment is conducted in line with NPORS standards and includes:

Theory Test – Multiple-choice or verbal/written questions on safety, legislation, and best practice

Practical Assessment – Candidates must demonstrate correct inspection, fitting, and use of harness and lanyard

Course Duration
Course length varies depending on the candidate’s level of experience:

Novice Operators: 3–5 days (typically 3 candidates per course).

Experienced Operators (with no formal training): 2–3 days.

Refresher / Test Only: 1 day.
